So I had an amazing trip to New York. My first thoughts were on the flight there. As we were approaching our destination I couldn't help but reflect on 9/11. What might have gone through peoples minds as they realized their lives were coming to an end? How did parents handle their children, and were the children aware of their encroaching fate? As we landed I again couldn't help but imagine the sheer force needed to stop our plane, and what that must have felt like with a building to do it for you? As we visited the hole left where the world trade center used to stand I was overcome with emotion and couldn't even speak. That day(9/11) so many people came together to help others and many gave the ultimate sacrifice their own life. As I was reflecting I was so overcome with emotion and goosebumps. I felt much gratitude for my life long safety and opportunity to have a fairly smooth ride on this earth.
On a more positive note,
our HOTEL was right in the middle of times square. We could open our curtains and see the heart of New York. It was amazing. Our hotel was incredible too. It was very contempory in design, which we love. We had the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. It was a king sized with down pad and down pillows that weren't too firm or too soft. It was great after walking all day. Pictures coming soon.
We ate at some fantastic RESTAURANTS. First, a tuscan restaurant I had a beef creamed tomato pasta. Second, a French restaurant I had an omelet that was good, but the desserts were the best I've ever had. I had a peach melba, this is a poached peach on top of vanilla ice cream with warm raspberry sauce and sprinkled with almond shavings. Chris had a Napoleon. It was sooooo good, and is now my favorite dessert. The waitress there was funny we asked if we could have hot chocolate with our dessert instead of the coffee that comes with it. She was shocked and horrified and sternly and scoldingly said "NO!" When we told her thank you and that the meal was very good she said "I know!" Chris and I laughed about the experience for a couple hours after. Third, we ate at a Black soul food place. We had fried chicken and eggnog waffles. It was good and we were the only white people there. Fourth, we ate at a mediterranean place where I had an amazing dish, I'm not sure I can explain. It was a pastry like the size of a small basketball, filled with rice, chicken, carrots, raisins, etc. And toped with some sort of yogurt dressing. It was soooo good. We ate other delicious food too, but these were the most impressive to me.
SHOPPING was so fun. There is just so much I wanted to buy! We visited Tiffany's where I tried on my dream ring. Louie Vuitton where I fell in love with a bag. We asked a sales associate what the most expensive item in the store was and he said a watch that is $77,000. So the $1500 bag I wanted was quite reasonable! We did go crazy at Fao Swarz, did some christmas shopping. Saw all the high fashion places. Then in Soho we had a lot of fun too! My favorite places there were Sabon (the best salt scrub), Adidas, and the Guess store.
SIGHT SEEING We did see!!! We walked all of central park. We saw the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, goutenberg, times square, many apartments, a few bums, the naked cowboy...
My trip was fun, exciting, and much needed. But I am so happy to be a stay at home mom living in Utah!
